During the 22nd African Union Summit, from 28-29 January, 2014 in
Addis Ababa, Non-State Actors comprised of farmers organizations,
non-government organizations and private sector actors will gather at a
forum to launch the “Do Agric, It Pays” campaign in support of the
African Union’s Year of Agriculture and Food Security. The forum
entitled, “From Rhetoric to Action: Towards a Transformed Agriculture
and a Food Secure Africa” provides opportunity for Heads of State to
agree alongside smallholder farmers and other stakeholders on a
transformative deal that will reinvigorate Africa’s agriculture sector
through robust support for policies in line with the objectives and
vision of CAADP. This event comes at a critical moment in the course of
Africa’s development.
