DOSE RATES OF CEPHALOSPORINS

TABLE 32: Dose Rates of Cephalosporins*
CephalosporinDosage, Route, and Frequency
Cephalothin20-35 mg/kg, IM or IV, tid- qid
Cephapirin30 mg/kg, IM or IV, every 4-6 hr
Cefazolin20-25 mg/kg, IM or IV, tid- qid
Cephalexin10-30 mg/kg, PO, tid- qid
Cefadroxil22 mg/kg, PO, bid
Ceftiofur1.1 mg/kg, IM, sid
*All for use in small animals, except ceftiofur, which is for use in cattle.
