Species of Bunostomum are as follows;
Bunostomum trigonocephalum
Bunostomum phlebotomum
Hook worms which occurs in small intestine of sheep and goats.It has also been recorded from cattle.The anterior end is bent in a dorsal direction so that the buccal capsule opens entero dorsally.
- No dorsal teeth into the buccal capsule
- Specules are slender
- Eggs are bluntly rounded and the embryonic cells are dorsally granulated
LIFE CYCLE
The growth development is direct.This species normally infect the host after they have rich the age of maturity in the mouth or through the skin following the skin penetration the larvae passes to the lungs, where the third ecdyisis occurs.The fouth stage larvae,reach the intestine again after 11 days.
PATHOGENESIS
The worm attach themselves to the intestinal mucosa and suck blood.
DIAGINOSIS
- Clinical signs-progressive anaemia and oedema which shows especially in the intermediate region as bottle jaw.
- Identification of eggs and larvae following the fecal culture.
- Also can be diagnosed through Postmortem findings.
TREATMENT
One can treat this threat by using Thiabendazole,Piperazine citrate also Ivermectin is effective.
